After Kirsten and Jack started a relationship, he was offered a job in Nice, and soon she came to live with him there. Kirsten was inspired by the tropical flowers and foliage of Nice, palm trees, birds of paradise and succulents featured heavily throughout to design the wedding.

The bride was wearing a midi wedding dress with a lace bodice and a lace trim on both skirt’s layers. She was rocking pearl earrings and a necklace to highlight her vintage look, and the groom gave a nod to the Scottish heritage of them both – he was wearing a kilt with a grey jacket and a grey tie plus a white shirt.

The couple collected pebbles from the beach (and ferried them home in their suitcases for 18 months before the wedding!) to use along the aisle and as place settings. Their guests also enjoyed chocolate pebbles as favors, and each went home with a cactus, palm tree or leaf enamel pin as a memento from the day, which Kirsten loved seeing everyone wear in the evening. To ensure there was another nod to the Scottish heritage, Kirsten painstakingly made tartan curtains, table cloths and napkin wraps in colors to complement their theme. Whisky bottles filled with fairy lights adorned the aisle, and the couple drank their favorite whisky from a Quaich at the end of their ceremony.

The groom’s mother made the six-tier Mars rice krispie + rocky road cake, decorated with cactus cupcakes and a clay cactus bride and groom – there was even heart shaped trailing succulents around the edges!
